Custom Order: Breast Cancer Embroidered Shawl Lois, The shawl was beautiful!!!! It came in time yesterday for me to bring it to her. She was at a cancer orientation to prepare her for what's ahead now that her chemo is beginning. I left it on her front porch and sent a text to her grown daughter who was in town to be with her. Her daughter thought it was so very sweet. Then this morning right before she left for the hospital her daughter sent me a picture of her wearing the shawl and holding an angel I had given her previously to hold when she needed comfort. She captioned it, "She's ready!"

other lives.I started as a little girl, with some guidance from my grandmother. I learned how to cut out fabric and make my doll clothes. The only machine I had was my grandmother's treadle sewing machine... she always told me that those new electric sewing machines were going to go out of style. If she could only see now how sewing machines are computers running on flash drives.
There is no one special thing that inspires me, I can be looking at something and think that is a great item, and then I'll keep thinking about it and something pops in my head to make it better or change it.
Or, someone will mention something like Chili peppers and it sets me on a mission to make something with chili peppers. When a friend moved to Santa Fe, I found a way to incorporate chili peppers into a kitchen item for her busy kitchen,
Another friend moved to Florida and I found a way to make her bathroom items with flip flop designs. I never know when a new idea will pop into my brain.
I know that this is the most rewarding time I spend all day. I sit down to work and I forget everything that is going on in my life and my friend's lives. But, when I close the door to my sewing room at the end of the day, all the issues and challenges of life come back.
Two things, the first is when someone sees something I have made and it has a new twist to the original design and they are so impressed. The second is when a client buys an item and loves it so much they order one for a friend or sister... Then I know I got it right.
